KKL, JNF UK’s Legacy Department, hosted 50 clients and members of the community at a Chanukah Lunch at TAL in Temple Fortune. Carolyn Addleman, Director of Legacies, welcomed the gathering on a cold winter’s day, and spoke about the significance of Chanukah and how we are once again defending ourselves against our enemies. The guests enjoyed a delicious lunch of salt beef, latkas and doughnuts, catered by Josepha White and were entertained by the talented magician, Sacha Johnstone.
After lunch was served, the guests listened to David Bouskila, the former Mayor of Sderot in conversation with David Goodman, KKL Director of Community Relations. He recounted the tragic events of October 7th and the devastation that took place in Sderot and surrounding areas in the South. He spoke about the plans to rebuild the shattered communities and to bring the residents back home. He thanked the guests for their enormous contribution and support, particularly to the JNF projects in Sderot and the Negev region.
David Goodman asked the guests to reflect on Sagui Dekel-Chen, a colleague at JNF UK, currently being held hostage. The Menorah was lit, followed by a rendition of Maoz Tzur and the Hatikvah.
